Well folks, we made it through January. The months will be much quicker from now on, thankfully! Its finally spring, not that it feels that way, but we're optimistic here at the Porterhouse Bray.
So, what have we got in store for February? Well need I say, the much anticipated return of the Six Nations is here, hooray! We'll be showing each and every live game here on all the big screeens. At the time of posting, Ireland were doing very well and beat France last weekend. Lets hope we can do the Grand Slam again this year. Not forgetting the Premiership, that's always on for you to watch too. Spring also brings with the GAA season too, things are starting to hot up on the pitch there too. Sure before you know it we'll be roaring on our favourite teams in Croke park!
As always we have our amazing food menu and daily specials. Our pint of the day varies each day so be sure to pop in and sit by the fire while you enjoy your favourite Porterhouse hand crafted brew.
Dont forget folks, 01st March sees Ireland play England - now that could well be a title decider! We'll see you all nice and early for that one and we may even have a bit of session that night, we'll see!!!!
Chat to you again in March - Mother's day isnt far off now. We are selling gift vouchers at the bar for all your lovely Mammies :)
Welcome to January folks .......... Have you all stuck to your New Year's Resolutions? January is more commonly know as a moanathon of a month! But there are brighter times ahead, each evening is getting a tad brighter as we eagerly await Spring and dare we say Summer? Where we love the long lazy evenings strolling along the beach gazing out over the sea or the other side of the road to The Porterhouse debating a nice ice cold pint of craft beer. But lets not get too ahead of ourselves, it's still January which can only mean one thing, the rugby is on, ahhh yes! The good aul European Cup, one of our favourite times of the year. The bar is packed to the rafters while we cheer on our teams and have a good chin wag half time. We'll also have the GAA heating up again with the club finals not that long away either. The soccer will also be gearing up a notch or two. Sure what more? Plenty of sport to get us through these short days and long nights of winter.
A little reflection on December .......... It's like a distant memory at this stage! We had our Customer Appreciation night on 17th December, just to show our, well, appreciation!! It was a great night with spot prizes and lots of festive fun was had by all. The smashing Luna Boys sang all our favourites and geared us all up another notch or two into the festive spirit. Christmas was a blast, the one day of it that we had off (we don't mind though!). We returned St Stephens day with a bang. The Luna Boys were here getting us all geared up for another late night. We had the stragglers from the Leopardstown Races joining us on 28th December, they're always a good crowd. Then New Year's Eve was another hectic one but a great night. It's really great to see everyone around the town coming home for Christmas and popping into their favourite local (The Porterhouse of course) for a pint of their favourite hand crafted beer. It wasnt long before we got battered by the storms and a bit of snow thrown in for good measure as we do every year and then everyone cleared off back to work and things quietened down, just a bit, only for a day or two, then it was back to normal again (the weekend we mean!) Which takes us back to January .......
So lets see this month out with a bang. We've got live music Thursday night (Thursday is the new Friday these days!), we have a mixture of live bands rotating every week from midnight until 2.30am. Our resident DJ is playing all your favourites every Saturday night from 10pm till 2.30am and theres no cover charge.
Dont forget we are always serving our amazing bar food everyday, Monday to Wednesday from 4pm and Thursday through to Sunday from 12pm. Kids menus are also available.
See you all in February - don't forget Valentines Day folks!
I don't know about you but August has me particularly excited for several reasons. First off over my years working for the Porterhouse Group here on the sunny shores of Bray, August is always seen as the end of the summer. The festival is ending and the whole town almost seems to revert to sleep mode but we are not going quietly into the night and for the month of August we are going to keep the summer feeling going in our bar with an array of super fruity refreshing beers including the legendary Fruli on draught and a host of other sensational fruit beers. To see the full list of what's available on tap and by the bottle please don't be shy and drop into us here on the seafront in Bray!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of this on our seven screens here starting from mid August.
For all you football fans out there we will be showing every live premier league game possible over the coming season so join us here for some great games and great match deals!

And we have a spicy south of the border burger for you so if like me you love a bit of Tex mex with your chiller

But I can tell you this much it’s going to offer you a new and exciting take on the pub lunch.
In the bar this month we have a fantastic mix of live music for you with the exceptional music styling’s of Andy Mann who finished second in the race to go to the Eurovision to represent Ireland (in our professional opinion here at the porterhouse bray he was robbed) along with Andy we will see the return of the legendary dog ruff and the fabulous hit men trio.
We are also the best spot in town for any of your sporting needs if it’s on and we can show it we will do our best to look after you if it’s possible to do so not to mention the fact that we have all of the major sporting events available in 3D.
As for the Eclectic garden please make sure to like our Facebook page to keep up to date with all events in the club! Rain sleet or snow the Porterhouse Bray is the place to go this Christmas!! Let's get the simple stuff out of the way: we are based on the seafront in Bray and we know it can get a little cold down here this time of year so we have put a lovely little heated marquee outside for you to enjoy over the festive period!! "A heated marquee" you say. "Well that's ok but what else have you got in that marquee?" Let me tell ya - we've got live music in it every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the 2nd of December right through to the 1st of January and we have it all from handsome singer song writers like our very own local legend Stephen Hayes to the 80's 90's and 00's styling's of Derek Jordan! Not to mention the musical equivalent to Plain Porter as in they are 100% Irish to the core the bog o' the Loughs!!! And if you're feeling a little peckish while enjoying all this free live entertainment we are putting on maybe you can book in for some finger food from our super Christmas finger food menu for €9.95 PER person or if you're feeling a little fancier you could book your group in for our Four course Christmas feast for €24.95 per person yes that’s four courses for €24.95
Love a little Festive banter? Well on Friday the 16th of December we will be hosting our first and hopefully best and not last (because I love them so much) funky geansai nollaig night!! With prizes on the night for the dodgiest pullovers!!!
If like me you are a child of the 90's have I got some smashin' news for you because I can tell ya once - I'm not telling ya twice - Smash Hits, yes that's the one and only 90's party machine are back in the Eclectic Garden on Wednesday the 21st of December for our Eclectic Garden customer appreciation night. Oh I nearly forgot - to top it all off on that night our good selves and the good people of Dellcassian and Schwarzhog will be attempting an amazing 1200 shot Hog train and to say thanks to you guys we are going to need some help drinking them after the big drop!!!
Moving along swiftly to St. Stephens night - that's the day after Christmas day for those of you normally too hungover to remember your own name - we have the fantastic Cujo Family live on stage in the Eclectic Garden!! People generally say I'm a little uptight but these guys always get me swaying to that folksy sound that they in my very humble opinion have made their own. I remember the bac bar when the DJ's got drunk - it smelt like stale beer and normally had a sprinkling of vomit and sawdust. Well we are going to try to bring you back there hopefully without the vomit but if I know Boc McCann and DJ Micky G there will defo be pints drank by the DJs! Along with the Harbour Bar, we are launching our first annual RE-UNION NIGHT. Hit the harbour, watch a great band and head down to the BAC BAR and dance the night away to some cheesy ass tunes. This used to be the staple night out in Bray and we are bringing it back for one night only with Even Deeper, the great band in the harbour and DJ's Boc McCann and Micky G providing the cheesy tunes in the BAC BAR!!
