Porterhouse - Fraunces Tavern - Blog

July 2016

Summer is here at Fraunces Tavern in Manhattan’s Financial District, New York City. 4th July was crazy here and we’re really looking forward to what we have planned for everyone over the next few months.

Situated just a 5 minute walk from the South Ferry which goes to The Statue of Liberty, The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern is the perfect stop off point to come in for a quick drink, Lunch or Dinner!

The Euro’s were a big hit for us over here. Customer’s loved our 4 screen set up in the Hideout bar and with Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland doing so well, it added extra excitement for everyone! (Let’s not mention England!) Of course the championships are not finished yet and we will be showing both Semi-Finals and the Final live!

Going forward, here’s what we have lined up for July;

Our #TapTakeover this month is provided by two amazing breweries, Grimm and Peekskill. Both are very well known around American Craft Beer circles and we are very excited to have some of their best beers on this month. Our updated beer menu can be viewed here:

Reverse Happy Hour will be taking place from now on every Friday night which will see TWO sessions of Happy Hour. From 4pm-7pm and from 9pm-12am you can avail of our Happy Hour specials.

Taking a sneak-peek into August, there’s a big event happening on the weekend of the 13th in Lower Manhattan – Shared Streets. For the 1st time, most of Lower Manhattan will be turned into a fully pedestrianized zone with outdoor food stalls, live bands, craft beer tasting events etc. You get the idea! It’s sure to be a great Weekend so if you’re in New York you have to come and check it out, and of course drop in to us to say hi! Also in August- The Olympics which as you can imagine are MASSIVE over here in the states and which we will show live!

Looking further ahead, we’ve got our annual OysterFest in September and we will be launching our Winter Menu’s! Okay that’s all we’ll mention of Winter!

From all of us here at Fraunces Tavern – Wishing you all a happy and safe summer wherever you are in sunny Ireland!

March 2016

Hello and welcome to the first ever Porterhouse NYC blog post from The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern, New York City.

We are “Leaping” into March over here and it is going to be a huge month for us. After all the cold weather and storms that we experienced this winter, we are excited to bring you the packed schedule of events that we have for the month of March in New York’s oldest tavern – Fraunces Tavern!

March will see the return of our Porterhouse beers, which sold out last month so we are excited to bring Porterhouse Oyster & Red back to NYC!

Obviously the big event for us will be St Patrick’s weekend! We want The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern to be your St Patrick’s weekend HEADQUARTERS. Starting on Wednesday the 16th until Sunday 20th, we have craft beer and whiskey tasting events, live music every day, live Premier League football and much more planned for what is sure to be an epic weekend.

Our March Tap-Takeover will be from Southern Tier and features their Backburner Barleywine and Crème Brûlée Stout to name just a few. This will take place on the 16th which is sure to get everyone in the mood for the festive weekend ahead. On top of this, if you find yourself in NY before or after Paddy’s weekend, we have live music in the bar every Friday, Saturday and Sunday so you really have no excuse not to pay us a little visit if you are around!

The Porterhouse NYC is located on Pearl Street in Manhattan, just a short walk from South Ferry which is where the boat leaves to go to Ellis Island. We have happy hour drinks and food specials Mon-Friday from 4-7pm so if you are out visiting The Statue of Liberty drop into us on your way!

For more information on the events that we have planned, or if you would like to get in touch with us, visit our website at or like us on Facebook.

From all of us here, have a great March and we shall speak to you in April – which is also going to be a big month for the Irish!!
